Semley CE VA Primary School
Home PageWelcome to the Semley CE VA School website.
At Semley we firmly believe that every child is unique and we take time to value their particular gifts and talents, this includes celebrating diversity, individuality and creativity. Semley encourages and gives opportunities for each child to shine, to achieve the best they can and to primarily enjoy their learning.
Semley CE VA Primary School is committed to providing a broad and balanced range of experiences and opportunities whilst children are in a caring and nurturing environment. The curriculum, whilst focusing on the core skills of literacy and numeracy, gives opportunities that are broad and balanced. They learn discrete subject knowledge through carefully planned curriculum progression alongside a topic-based creative curriculum, this allows children to make meaningful links across the subjects.
At Semley we have high expectations of behaviour and attitude to learning, allowing children to develop self-respect for themselves and respect for others in the community. Our aim is that children will leave Semley as well-rounded individuals who have the confidence and skills necessary to face new challenges. We value the ideas and opinions of our children and feel giving them a voice about the things that happen at their school is important. We encourage our children to take responsibility for themselves while at the same time thinking of the impact actions may have on others, for example they have organised fundraising events for charities and instigated changes that have positively impacted playtimes and lunch times.
We are proud of our Christian ethos at Semley and the core school values: ‘aspiration,’ ‘respect,’ ‘adventure’ and ‘wonder’ are used to inspire each child to make the most of any opportunities that come their way.
I am so excited and honoured to be the Head Teacher at Semley CE VA Primary School and enjoy being part of the school’s onward journey. I hope the website can give you an insight into the busy and happy school we have here. If you would like any further information please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you would like to come and see for yourself then I am very happy to show you around.

Pupils believe their school is a warm, friendly, ‘family’ school. They are respectful and kind towards one another. Pupils are resilient in their efforts to learn. They strive to work hard for their teachers. For example, children in Reception worked studiously together to create a bug hotel. Pupils say teachers show them ‘how to be’.
Pupils fully take part in school as sports ambassadors, play leaders and members of the school council. Pupils feel staff listen to their views and take them seriously. Pupil librarians listen to younger pupils read. Older pupils care for the younger children. For example, during lunchtime, pupils help to cut food or open packets for the younger children. All of this contributes to a warm, nurturing community.
